Admit it -- it’s inevitable. Fashion is cyclical, and there’s no escape. Your children (or your children’s children) will be wearing the trends of the 2000s sooner or later. It’s 2020, and anything ironic is automatically cool -- if you’re the first to bring back these dated fashions among your friends, you might be a trendsetter!

At the top of the resurrection queue is the Go-Go Boots. These glossy, vibrant low-heeled dancing boots have been waiting since the 60s to be brought back into modern society, and what better time than now to bring them back? Go-Go Boots were originally worn by women in dance clubs across America, perfect for moving and grooving to the upbeat tunes of the decade.

That said, these knee-high heeled boots don’t need to be restricted by gender to come back into style. You can pick up your own pair of Go-Go Boots online, but any pair of colorful rain boots or galoshes you have lying around the house works as an excellent substitute.

After you don your Go-Go Boots, try out this dance dating back to the 1980s. Kids have been asking how to Dougie since the 2014 hit by Cali Swag District, and you can teach them all by yourself! The actual steps of the Dougie are vague, but the Dougie scholars at the Charger tell us that it goes something like this:

First, start swaying side-to-side. You’ll want to start out right, left, right, then double every fourth step (i.e. left, right, left, left will be your second set of moves). Once you have the basic pattern down, keep your posture loose. There are a couple different moves you can do with your arms, but the most popular one involves moving your hands over your head as though you were slicking back your hair.

While you’re delving into the trends of the past, why not pick up a Tamagotchi? These electronic toys were incredibly popular in the 90s, and allowed you to take care of a tiny, pixelated pet! Though they fell out of style in the late 2000s, you can still buy your own Tamagotchi online on a budget of $10. Once you’ve secured your new electronic friend, you can attach the Tamagotchi to a keychain for easy carrying!

The cultural virtuosos reading will immediately notice that these three trends go together flawlessly. Wearing your Go-Go Boots and doing the Dougie while taking care of your Tamagotchi will surely impress your friends and family. Before long, you’ll have started a cultural revolution!
