If you did not know, we recently said good-bye to our vice principal, Mary Kirk and said hello to our new one, Thomas Cagel. Cagel worked at Dekalb County High as a teacher and coach for five years and was promoted to assistant principal and athletic director for three years before moving to Cookeville.

“All my kids go to Putnam County Schools, so having an opportunity to come up here and be on the same schedule as them and I have a son who will be a freshman next year so being in the same school as him that was kind of my like, ‘oh here's my chance to move up here if I'm going to do it’ so it's just kind of a perfect opportunity for me to be able to make that move,” said Cagel.

Cagel's goal is to figure out the flow of the school and try to get students more involved with the community and each other.

“I mean, I have been in Putnam County for a long time, so having a chance to work here at the school and work with the teachers and the students here and the people in the community I live in is a great opportunity for me so yes I'm very excited to be a part of Cookeville High School," said Cagel.
