The Super Bowl is just about a month and a half away. It feels like the NFL just started, but with just four weeks left in the season, what are we still waiting for from potential contenders? No one should argue that The Chiefs and Saints are the top dogs in their respective conferences, but what are the other teams that could make some noise in January?
Some other teams in the AFC that might make some noise include the Bills, Steelers, Titans, and my top sleeper pick, the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are coming off an absolute destruction of the Titans on the road that saw them put up 38 points in just one half, with Baker Mayfield’s best game as a pro. Since the Odell injury, Baker has been the third best quarterback in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus.
Another team that could make a deep run if they get in the playoffs is the Baltimore Ravens. People just wrote them off after a few losses, but if they get in the playoffs, expect a run.
The NFC is interesting because it is wide open. Right now the Saints look like the best team, but we all know what happens to them in the playoffs. Drew Brees, as great as he is, is a playoff choker. The Packers, Rams, Seahawks, and Buccaneers might be able to make some noise. The 49ers could also make an NFC run if they start getting healthy and somehow get into the playoffs.
Seattle is a very interesting team, as they started off undefeated before their eventual overtime loss to Arizona, who does not look very good anymore. I expect Russel Wilson to go back into MVP form as the season moves on, and we could get a late push from him. My pick at the start of the season was Seattle, so I will stick with it, but I have no clue what will happen.
Another interesting team for next season is the Patriots. The offseason will tell us a lot about next season, especially depending on whether they draft a quarterback or keep Cam, or maybe trade for someone. It will be a very interesting offseason for them, but they need weapons for any quarterback to be good, and they will have to build that through the draft.
