Most easily entertained girl in the world reviews Twisters

The 2024 reprise of the 1996 movie Twisters was released on July 19 in theaters nationwide. The movie was underwhelming but tolerable. I appreciate Daisy Edgar-Jones in any role, but my favorite part of the movie was seeing Glen Powell finally close his mouth.

I thought the CGI was impressive although repetitive. In my opinion, the movie did not have much dimension. The characters were one-sided, with the villain, Scott, abandoned with no redemption, and the heroes, Kate and Tyler, just as heroic as always.

For a summer blockbuster, I truthfully was not expecting much. My expectations were justly set low and remained there for the entirety of the film.

However, it did have me on the edge of my seat at times. It was not my favorite movie, but calling it boring would just be untrue. The scene of the town getting ripped to shreds by an EF5 tornado was devastating, despite its tragic nature, it had me glued to the screen.

Also, I can appreciate a good opening scene, which Twisters was successful in executing. The death of Kate and Javi’s best friends was an obviously gut-wrenching and intense way to start off the movie, but shock value works.

From a more technical aspect, the movie had many plot holes. I’m not sure if they forgot to hire a vocal coach or if they are all just extremely bad at accents, but no two people had the same intonation. They claimed to be born and raised in rural Oklahoma but had no Southern twang to show for it.

I’m aware that my opinions seem to keep changing, and the reason for that is because I simply do not have strong opinions on this movie. In a month, it will have bled together with 50 other action movies in my brain and be forgotten in the mix.

But, as the title states, I am insanely easily entertained and watching this movie was no different. I enjoyed it, but I would never watch it again.
