There are many movies worthy of a review during Black History Month, but a particularly important one is "Remember the Titans." This movie is considered a classic and is beloved by many. It presents its message of coming together in a way that’s easy for all audiences to understand.

The main plot of “Remember the Titans” revolves around two segregated schools being forced to combine, and the new integrated football team must overcome their differences to win the season. At the beginning of the movie there are two clear teams, one of entirely white students and one of entirely Black students. When the schools combine, the team must integrate under a new Black coach.

Despite the team originally not getting along, they eventually accept each other and win the season. They also struggle to accept their new coach, but he turns into a mentor for each member of the team. The team’s success also results in a change of heart for many of the town's members as well.

What makes the lesson in this movie so important is its presentation. The movie makes it very easy to understand the struggles of Black Americans at the time. “Remember the Titans” also emphasizes the importance of all people coming together, no matter their race, gender, or sexuality.

“People say that it can’t work, black and white; well here we make it work, everyday. We have our disagreements, of course, but before we reach for hate, always, always, we remember the Titans.”

We would give "Remember the Titans" a 9/10 on the Cool-O-Meter.
