As we welcome our new friends at CHS we also welcome back old ones for the last time, for those of you who are newer it can be hard to get used to the atmosphere of highschool. A few CHS seniors have offered advice about things that they feel need to be addressed and some advice they wish they had when they first stepped into highschool.
“Don’t be afraid to ask questions, it’s the teacher’s job to help you. Take classes with a purpose, it will help with motivation. Get involved with clubs! They typically aren’t super intensive and it’s good to have on a college resume. If you join a club and don’t like it, just quit and don’t go. Obey the unwritten traffic rules. Walk on the right side of the hallway, don’t stop in the middle of the hallway, and stop turning around in the middle of the hallway. And be respectful to your teachers. They don’t get paid enough.” said senior Coral Jones .
“ Do your work. Take every opportunity available to you because it will pay off in the long run. The struggle is worth it. A small amount of sacrifice goes farther than you can possibly imagine. Build habits and do the work, improve in every aspect you can. Respect the teachers, a big difference between a class of freshman and a class of seniors is the amount of respect the teachers are given.” said senior Colton Phipps .
“There is a fight club in the pool on the fourth floor. Loud does not equal funny. Walk at a normal speed down the main stairs. There is no reason it should take me four minutes to get down the stairs. I am losing my mind.” said senior Emmy Delk.
Remember you’re building your futures. Start thinking about your grades now, think of your four years as a pyramid and the bottom is freshman, this is where you set your foundation for your grades and how hard you will have to work for the rest of highschool. That isn’t to scare you. It’s just something to keep in mind when you just feel like slacking off. Welcome to CHS, whether you take this advice or not, have a great next four years.
