As the end of summer once again comes around, we reminisce on the songs and albums that soundtracked our months of heat and freedom (lmao). Gus and Parker listened to an abundance of excellent tunes this summer

The first on the nose song to describe our summer was the aptly titled “Summer” by Bktherula. The synth-full song topped off with beautiful vocals from Bk detailing that “Everything’s better in the summer” brings back vivid memories of early summer mornings and late night drives. In addition to “Summer,” Bktherula’s song “Tweakin’ Together” stayed on repeat all break.

The remix of “Photo ID” by Remi Wolf with Dominic Fike set the scene for the summer as the previous school year was letting out. The remix blew up on TikTok briefly -- and for a good reason as the song emanates dancible and summery vibes that anyone can enjoy. She also released her song “Liquor Store” recently so if you enjoyed “Photo ID” and want to continue your feeling of summer break, we highly recommend this track as well!

One of the most exciting artists working currently, glaive, released quite a few songs this year. Though there were many excellent songs to choose from, my favorite has to be the catchy and eternally relatable “i wanna slam my head against the wall.” This may have been my favorite solo song by glaive over the summer, but his feature on aldn’s song “what was the last thing u said” tops off an absolutely beautiful song about misunderstanding time changing people and relationships.

A great groove in addition to an energetic and fast paced melody is the only way to describe “Rocky” by Still Woozy. Not bobbing your head or body is borderline impossible when listening to this track. If you for some reason haven’t checked Still Woozy out before, we recommend listening to “Goodie Bag” or his newly released debut album “If This Isn’t Nice, I Don’t Know What Is”.

A few more of Gus’ favorite songs were “Social Cues” by Teezo Touchdown, “New Light” by John Mayer, “Waiting Here” by Wicca Phase Springs Eternal and Lil B and“Águas De Março” by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Elis Regina.

Some of Parker’s favorite tracks this summer includes “WUSYANAME” by Tyler, The Creator, “ARE YOU WITH THAT?” by Vince Staples, “Play Ball” by Kenny Mason and “Möbius Chicken Strip” by Origami Angel.

As this summer came to a close, it marked the beginning of our senior year at CHS.
